Terms
These terms govern your use of BackcountryBuddy, operated in Ontario, Canada.
Age
You must be at least 18 years old to purchase or use BCB.
The service
BackcountryBuddy provides weather, radar, alert, and related decision-support information through text messaging. The information can be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, or wrong. Conditions can change after a response is sent.
Your responsibility
You remain responsible for route, travel, camp, crossing, and safety decisions. Use BCB as one source of information, not as the sole basis for a decision. Maintain appropriate plans, skills, communications, and dedicated safety equipment.
Access and payment
Access is offered through the products shown in the current BCB catalog. Stripe remains the payment authority. Creating or opening Checkout does not activate access; BCB activates an entitlement only after its authenticated payment-confirmation process succeeds. Monthly plans renew until cancelled. Cancellation prevents future renewal and ordinarily does not refund the current billing period except where required by law. See the Refunds page.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the service, interfere with its operation, probe private systems, impersonate another person, or use another person’s access without permission. BCB may restrict access when necessary to protect customers, providers, or the service.
Safety limits
BCB is information and decision support—not SOS, rescue, emergency dispatch, navigation, tracking, or guaranteed connectivity. Read the full Safety disclosure before relying on information in the field.
Availability and liability
BCB is provided on an “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, BackcountryBuddy is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from use of or inability to use the service. Any direct liability is limited to the amount paid for the affected access, unless applicable law requires otherwise. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and applicable Canadian law. Courts with jurisdiction in Ontario will hear disputes unless applicable consumer law requires another forum.
