Effective September 6, 2026
Safety
BCB helps you get another set of eyes. It does not make the call for you.
Information, not rescue
BCB provides information and decision support. It is not an SOS service, emergency dispatcher, rescue service, navigation system, tracking service, or substitute for contacting emergency services. Do not send an emergency request to BCB expecting monitoring or response.
Connectivity is not guaranteed
Text messaging can work where web access is difficult, but delivery is never guaranteed. Coverage, device capability, satellite availability, provider outages, terrain, weather, and other conditions can prevent or delay messages.
Conditions change
Forecasts, observations, radar, and alerts have limits. They can be delayed, incomplete, unavailable, or inaccurate, and they cannot describe every local hazard. Conditions may change between a BCB response and your decision.
You hold the bearing
Carry appropriate navigation, communications, emergency, and safety equipment. Use your experience, local observations, official warnings, trip plan, and multiple information sources. If a situation may be an emergency, use the emergency resources available to you.
